I am a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Civil Engineering Department at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) where I joined in Spring 2023. I received my Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from Missouri University of Science and Technology and M.Sc. in Construction Engineering from The American University in Cairo. My background is rooted in Construction Engineering and Management, where I particularly enjoy Construction Law and Contracts. However, my experience also expands to multidisciplinary applications. The focus of my dissertation during my PhD was to investigate the effect of the growing adoption of distributed solar generation on the electric power markets and infrastructure. I am particularly interested in data science, artificial intelligence, and complex computer simulation using agent-based modeling and system dynamics.
Research Interests:
- Construction Engineering and Management
- Computer Modeling and Simulation
- Distributed Solar Generation and Wholesale Power Markets
- Artificial Intelligence (and Machine Learning)
- Data Science
- Contractual and Legal Affairs in Construction
Awards:
- 2022 Outstanding Reviewer Award from the ASCE Journal of Management in Engineering
- Editor's Choice Paper in the ASCE’s Journal of Energy Engineering for The Paper: “Studying Dynamic Pricing in Electrical Power Markets with Distributed Generation: Agent-Based Modeling and Reinforcement-Learning Approach”.
